I was not successful in getting the RX-7 running. It will have to be towed to Ames.
Also, Ben learned to drive stickshift, my Subaru made it there and back (1800 miles or so) with only minor issues (slight brake leak, I know where it's from and have a spare cylinder I can put on), and we learned that my Subaru can indeed leave rubber from a standing stop. It also requires wide open throttle to make it through mountains with 4 people & an engine block in the back.
There will be a rotary teardown party in the next few weeks.

I still need at least 2 more people who can go on a road trip this weekend to West Virginia. I'm paying for everything, including bringing food. All I ask is that you're free from Friday night after The Rock till Sunday morning (2-3 AM, hopefully). Ability to drive stickshift is a plus, but I'll train if needed.
PLEASE! I can't keep pushing this road trip off, and I've already put a down payment on the car. You'll get to spend extended time driving an RX-7 on the way back.

It's been a while, so... here are some updates:
*I'm working in Iowa City right now, part time. I bounce back and forth between Ames & Iowa City on a weekly basis. Normally I'm in IC on Sun night, Mon, Tues, and sometimes Wed morning.
*I'm road tripping this weekend to West Virginia to pick up another RX-7.
*My ferret is quite happy, though not always amused about bouncing back and forth between Ames & Iowa City.
That's about it. Nothing much to see here.
