Korthals-Riley Wedding
So, after much calling reception locations, debating, considering and praying.... I think we have finally nailed down a wedding date. I'm still giving it a few days to sink in so that if any last minute issues come up, then we'll be able to address them.
The saga.....
We were really liking Nov. 18 because of time and convience but after lots of checking... no reception location being available, we then began looking into other options. A major driving factor has been budget and our guest list. Between our large extended families and all the friends we know through the Church, we are in the 520 names range. But even if 75% showed, we're still having to feed a lot and find a place to hold everyone ~380.
And Wendy loves outdoor stuff, so we started kicking around an outdoor reception idea next to Stonebrook, sometime in September. After some looking and initial checking, we were starting to settle on September 23, 2006. We talked to her parents and got a 'okay/mild' reaction but after they thought about it some more a few days, we started running into issues of harvest (he's a farmer) and some other logistics.
But after prayer and consideration of a lots of factors, I think we'll be getting married on September 23, 2006. Like I said, I'm giving it a few days to see if anything else comes up, but I've been so excited that I may be getting married in September I just needed to blog about it. :)
And a special warm thanks to Kirsten Hill for her amazing check-lists and her help in making phone calls and all the other things I'm hoping she'll help us with over the next 12 weeks. Please be praying for us that all goes well. Three requests:
1) Late Harvest - so it's not on her dad's mind come wedding time.
2) Great Weather - for the outdoor reception
3) Z37 - logistics so I can take a 1.5 weeks away from work for the honey moon and for my sanity as I help plan a wedding while working lots of hours.

Oh, and I forgot to mention... today it started to hit home that I'm really getting married. It has moved from abstract idea and dream into reality. Wendy, Christy and Linda (her mom) went dress shopping today and now Wendy owns a wedding dress. Wow, we're actually starting to spend money on this thing. It's crazy.... but I'm very thankful to the Lord for providing such an amazing 'official full time helper' named Wendy Maria. :) [Gen. 2:18 - my favorite verse.]

sometimes I think that kirsten should start charging for her amazing skills.... well, maybe just marketing them.... after all I'm still single and will be anxious to take advantage of them if the Lord ever wills.

I am actually seriously considering writing my tips, advice and checklists into a "Wedding planning ebook" and selling it on the internet. The nice thing about that is if I spend a few hours on it up front, it is pretty much pure profit after that -- just a little bit for paypal/ebay fees or website fees. And not very much work either! :) We'll see...
