Age descrimination
So I walk by an "elderly" person who is talking to themself.
I think:
"That person must be senile or something."
I walk by a "young" person who is talking to themself.
I think:
"That person must be on a cell phone with an ear piece."
The times they are a changin'
How's that for thought fodder?

It's interesting the generalizations we can make about people without even realizing it. Though I know plenty of young people who walk around merely talking to themselves.

I talk to myself all the time.
*hush you fool, don't tell anyone*
-aww comeon, they are going to find out soon enough-
*yes, but you didn't have to tell them*
-oh shuddup-..

The problem, which I discovered when I was in New York City, is that, with the hands-free phones, it's impossible to determine who is insane and who is annoying.
I talk to myself all the time, though: it's a very effective way of scaring people off.
