I know nobody reads this thing anymore, but there was a quote from Mike Eichen that really hit me this morning.

"if you say 'i dont have time', you are really saying 'i dont value this relationship enough to make time'"

There's more than one way to eat a gregory...

need a cool name for your blog? go here, type in your name. Here's a few of the best ones from mine. The rest I'm saving for future entry titles!

And you thought we smelled bad on the outside...

I've decided that if you could define my relationship with Tom in one sentence, that sentence would be as follows:

"We pick each other up, except when we can quote Star Wars instead"

Here's something to illustrate what i mean.

Calvinism vs. Hobbism

Had to put this one up!

Faithwalkers was awesome. Completely life changing. If people ever send me pics i'll post some.

For Christmas I got a pezmp3player. I'll post pics soon.

Also....be looking for the lyrics to my song that i sang at church yesterday. I have some changes, but they should be up this week.

The overnighter teen new years party was awesome! let's see.....pineapple/ham pizza, listening to relient k while playing bucket ball, return of the king, pirates of the caribbean, Super Smash Bros: Melee, no sleep, the parents pancake breakfast right before cleaning up and practicing worship before 10 o'clock kept us busy.

I thought I should post this Faithwalkers story:

I was sitting at a table filled with about 8 guys and one girl from different churches in Iowa. My guitar was sitting on the ground next to me as we ate and I discussed with a couple of guys the circumstances over which it was within our authority (not power) to rebuke satan. Mark Darling, pastor of The Rock in Minneapolis, musician, father, and an exceptional public speaker walks up, places his hand on my shoulder and says,

"Man, what a player you must be!!!".

Looking around at the 8 guys at the table i turned to him, confused, wondering why he thought i was a player, and even more so, why he was so enthusiastic about it. He continued after a few fractional seconds:

"Man, you carry that guitar around with you everywhere! Do you really love to play?"

You just had to have been there.

Tied 2 - 2 @ Caribou

Yesterday I was thinking about a lot of the troubles I've been having lately, and I remember thinking "man, i need to hang out with tom." I see him all the time, but just chilling without the responsibilities is a rarity now with all the ministry and school we are both involved in now. Anyway, i figured i would wait a couple days to do it, but apparently God had other plans because Tom was thinking the same thing, and he called me last night. So we went to Caribou, where we played chess for like two hours. It was tied two to two, and he won the third one so he's the current champion. I had to pay for my Passion Green Tea Smoothie with change because I am so poor right now....

On the way home I finally got to open up about a lot. It's not that I hate life, it's just that i hate how some things affect my life. I feel like such a failure right now, but i'm not depressed about it. Just kind of wore out i guess. Anyway, I got to work on some stuff. There's a gallery show i've been working real hard on getting into and the deadline is tomorrow.

quote of the day: "don't take anything from strangers, unless you know them."

This is my title

there are none like it. i believe i can do everything that it says i can do......ha

anyway, right now i'm working on a bunch of stuff, mostly for school. There's a gallery exhibit in december through january that the ad design majors at school get to design and our work displayed in. The official deadline is wednesday, so i have to remaster some stuff, and finish up a bunch of other stuff before that. It's hard work, but i'm really loving it.....

Something I realized when talking to Luke at Encounter was that my life really has turned around these past few months. I used to be very much the "life sucks" type of guy. But now i'm more of a "life is good" type of guy. and i really believe it.

here's a song i wrote a few months ago...

guess i just never posted it on my blog. i have more too, i'll try to keep you guys updated on this stuff....

Beyond the Surreal
By Gregory J. Ochab

V1
You missed the ground you fell to
The stars are now below you
Confused you feel for ground
Found that you were upside-down
V2
You scream out in silence
The fields cry nothing back
Darkness is half around
Then your sky comes crashing down, crashing down

Chorus:
There was never perfection
In the world that you knew
And the place that was yours
Can no longer be real
Beyond the surreal
The place we ignore
True perfection exists
And somehow we know

V3
In a place full of strangeness
That has known your ways
You push away what has happened
The realization allayed

Bridge:
But there is a hope
There is A sincere
And though unseen
There is someone there

These dark times.....

so, my computer crashed about a week and a half ago. It was only down for like three or four days, but it was down and for the next couple weeks I'll be slowly reinstalling all my software....

My family is leaving for minnesota tomorrow, so I've been burning my cds so i can leave the originals at home in case i lose them. I was burning Passion's "Our Love Is Loud" album, and for no reason i started reading the inside cover about how the day they began the Passion tour that this album was taken from was September 11th, 2001. They did the tour anyway, to prove that "men of terror" could not prevent them from spreading love in "one of our nation's darkest hours".

This got me to thinking about the great awakenings, and how at SALT one of the teachers (i cant remember who) said that there has never been an awakening as bright as the one within the first couple hundred years after Christ. Sure, there have been vibrant spiritual revivals, but none with as much passion and fire as the one spread by Peter, Paul, John Thomas and many other apostles of the day. So that means that today, we are in the dark times.....the dark ages didnt end with the renaissance, but will continue until our hero, Jesus Christ comes down from heaven clothed in white, bearing a name on a sash which will be unreadable to all but him, and he will dash the heads of demons against rocks, and we will join him in his conquest to rid destroy the angels of darkness!!!!

Well, this blog has definitely fallen behind from the placing it used to have. Let's see.........two comments. Wow, that's sad. I used to average about 5........oh well. Does this blog even deserve web space anymore?

So, as of tonight, I will be living with the SALT guys downtown. I'm looking forward to spending my mornings in hardcore fellowship with God, then I'll have to catch a train and be back in Lombard for work by noon, until I go back down on the 5:30 train for our evening seminar/bbq/whatever. I need this time away from my family to figure things out for myself. If everyone could pray for me, I'd appreciate it. On Saturday I will probably be moving back home.

My Dad had some more testing done yesterday. I am praying that he would be HEALED, nothing less.....if anyone wants to pray that with me.......

I bought some Swedish Fish today.....I love those things. I really wish I had the time/resources to do some shirt designs. I don't know, it's just something I am craving right now.......

Intro: I am my own monster.....

yes, i am my own monster. I constantly find myself in situations that I caused.....kind of like Han Solo. I know the devil and his servants tempt us to do wrong, but I believe that we do stuff to our self as well. As Hobbes would say "it's not like you [humans] need the help"....

so, anyway this blog now replaces http://gregory.ochab.com, so if anyone wants to see what that looked like, or check out the archives there, feel free to head on over....

Freaks

So, three weeks ago, Tom and I headed to Indianapolis. It's a four hour drive each way, but we figured the Star Wars Celebreation III would be worth it. Yes, we are star wars freaks.

Anyway, to make a really long story short a security guard told us to get in the wrong line, so we didnt get tickets in time. We were in line for TWO HOURS before we got in the right one. If we would have gotten in the correct line in the first place we would have easily made it in. So, we left there at like 11:30, after waiting in lines for over three hours. Yeah, the life and times of Tom and Greg.

Here's a picture of the line we were in for forever.

The rest of the pictures just go to prove that we were actually there.
