Pretty Spiffy, Eh?

Awww yeah. Check it. New blog addition: Bush/Cheney '04 news sidebar courtesy of Matt. Now I must no longer bear single-handedly the burden of delivering truth to your blogdom. I can write ridiculous stories and let the sidebar do the dirty work. This calls for a diet Coke. In a glass. With three ice cubes. And -- might as well go all out -- a straw. Hmmm, it might call for an ottoman, too. And, as long as we're going all out, a rocking one.

Speaking of accessories for being absurdly lazy, I have enjoyed the hammock here at Knapp St. so much that I began envisioning ways of adding one to my dorm room this year. You see, I'm living in a triple suite, which is a double and a single connected with a bathroom. And I get the single. Thus, if I were to loft my bed, a hammock would attach beautifully to either end of the loft.

However, upon researching the cost of hammocks, it seems that the least expensive ones are in the $40 range, which I simply cannot justify. So, if you have an old hammock just lying around, or if your great aunt knits them while watching Days of Our Lives, feel free to make a tax deductable donation to my dorm room.

Between the Rand single, the fun in Hillboe, and the Ytterboe pod, I may never actually GO to my own room... That is, if you can find the hammock knit by someone's grandma...

hmm... three ice cubes. I think the sutches have assimilated you to their world now...

I think that you can get hammocks cheaper than that. I think that I have seen them for twenty or less for the barebones string ones. Try JAX outdoor supply in west ames. I think that I saw them there.

And Mohn, Kristin? Mohn has a pretty sweet single. ;-) New carpet, fresh paint, awesome theme, excellent decor...

Yay for relaxation, Megan! Your lofted bed and hammock idea was implemented quite finely by one of the JCs on ninth floor last year. He apparently found it well worth it---He often freaked me out because I couldn't see him when he was in it, so I'd peak my head in the room to see if he was there, turn to leave or stop to talk to his roommate, and he'd suddenly spring out of his "pod."

In other words, go for the hammock and preferably a cheap, stringy one 'cause than I don't need to fear a Megan emerging unexpectedly from a knit cocoon.

I'm incredible zonked right now. Forgive any incoherence. Yay residence life staff training. :-P

I can't believe I forgot the utopia called Mohn. Yes Laura, I will live there as well. After all, as seniors, we need to make sure everyone knows that the entire campus is now our turf... evil laugh...

Kristin - Great Aunt, not Grandma, Great Aunt. That's essential.
Angie - I had no idea the Sutches were also 3 ice cube fans. It just makes the beverage taste so much better.
Paul - Thanks for the heads-up. I had previously only used one source, target.com, which was poor research on my part. Evidently K-mart has them for $20, which is a better fit for my budget.

*Chuckling* That's my mistake. Good luck finding the hammock-knitting great Aunt.
