Adam Smith

An article in Sunday's Des Moines Register caught my eye. The headline read, "Vilsack sites economy in repeal of budget cuts".

Democrats generally do not feel the need to make excuses for increasing government spending, but check out the Governor's line of reasoning: "'The economy is beginning to pick up,' Vilsak said."

A Democrat finally admitted that the economy is indeed roaring. The party is still screaming "job loss," but in reality 1.5 million jobs have been created since last August. It seems that Adam Smith really was on to something. Supply-side economics does work.

Vilsack seemed to be one of the top few choices for John Kerry's running mate, but he may have just eliminated himself. This statement of optimism completely contradict's Kerry's economic doomsday attitude.

What is left for John Kerry to run on? The economy is strong. Iraq is sovereign. The U.S. has been terror-free since September of 2001. Perhaps he will finally choose a position on same-sex marriage -- not that it would matter at this point.

This tidbit was mainly to appease my College Republicans. Stay tuned, because during the next few days I would like to get into what I am really excited about currently: what God has been doing in my life this summer.

Game Plan

Have you ever Googled your name to see what comes up? I have, and I must say, there are way too many Megan Blairs in the world. But this is the blog of the Megan Blair. So welcome.

What will Megan Blair's blog be? Why, it will be much like Megan Blair. It will include topics from God to politics, and even some less controversial topics such as music and people. It will also likely contain my thoughts on things I have read, things people have said, or things that no one has yet written or said that I think need to be read or heard.

My goals for my blog include: composing something as pithy as the articles on opinionjournal.com, making the top 3 in the ever expanding Earle & Drencher rankings, and creating documents that would ensure that I would never be able to run for elected office if my political persuasions were to change.

Being a long-time blog reader -- at least since my brother started his -- I have found that the most insightful or amusing parts of a blog can be the comments. Thus, your duty is to leave your thoughts. I know you have some, and I want to hear them. Also, if you would ever like to request a topic, I would gladly consider it. And then I will use my newly found authoritarian dictatorial blog author power to give it the thumbs up or thumbs down.

Enjoy.
