Random Questions:

#1) Why does everybody assume that at Easter you are supposed to eat Ham? Did I miss something somewhere? It doesn't help that I'm not a huge fan of ham- but so many people and adds for stores connect ham with Easter. I don't get it.
#2) Jason and I found a $1 Easter hat for Belle last night. It has a ribbon around it and forms a bow at one point. We need someone(s) to tell us where to place this bown on her head. We have both decided it is not the front. :) However, one of us thinks it goes slightly to the side and the other one says that it should go it back. Can anyone help us?

1) I've never eaten ham at Easter, but you're right, the grocery stores make a huge fuss over it. Weird!

2) I wore a lot of white easter hats when I was young, and I was always told to put the bow in back. I think it is up to personal preference.

I'm no expert on any of these things, but this is the best that I know! Hope all is well!

Dude, we can eat ham on easter because we are now free in Christ!! Without easter there would be no ham....

I'm not sure why ham goes with Easter, but as a fan of ham I really love it! As far as the bow goes, I would put it in the back. When I was younger I always wore mine in the back.

I'm not sure why we eat ham for Easter, but I am a ham fan so I enjoy it. My Grandma always gets this great spiral ham from HyVee!

As for Belle's bow, I would put it in the back.

Happy Easter!

1) Eat ham because we are sheep. Wouldn't eating fish on Easter make infinitely more sense? (beef, turkey, and chicken. there, did I get them all?)

2) Now I have a question for you. Why does everyone assume we have to put silly hats, froofy dresses, and ribbons on our little girls at easter? Did I miss something somewhere? It doesn't help that I'm not a huge fan of froofy silliness- but so many people and adds for stores connect froofiness with Easter. I don't get it.

I'm going with a really logical (maybe) idea on ham: It's because back in the day, loads of Americans had pigs, or access to a pig, and ham being cheaper at the time than beef (and pigs being less resourceful than a cow, because why would you kill off your milk supply?) people began eating ham for special events.

As for the bow. I think it's suppose to be in the back, but I say go for the side. It's more trendy.

I have no idea why ham is so popular -- probably because you can feed a lot of people inexpensively, and turkey's such a Thanksgiving thing.

Lamb is probably how the first century church celebrated easter. It'd be both a carryover from Passover, as well as a very Greek way of feasting. The Greek student association at the U of M hosts a Greek Easter feast every year. They actually put a lamb on a spit and then feast all day. We joined them for a bit last year, and I can't wait to join them again this year for a bit!
