Maybe...
it is because I'm pregnant.
Maybe it is because the "high" for the days have been below zero.
Maybe it is because I have a toddler to bundle up, shoes, scarf, coat, car seat...
Maybe it is because this is the longest winter I remember with more ice than I have ever cared to experience.
Then again, I decided it doesn't matter- some genious (I'm convinced it was a parent!) invented the drive thru!
Ha! If you would have asked me three years ago how often I used the drive thru - I would have asked "Drive thrus? No way! Get out of the car- get some exercise, save some gas!!!" No really I didn't think that much about it, but it never occured to me what places that I visit on a regular visit had this particular feature. Fast foward to this winter and here is my current prayer: "Dear Lord- could you have created a drive thru at Walmart during last night?" Seriously! With Belle all bundled up and not liking to walk on the ice- I am carrying her across the ice and in the wind with both of us arriving out of breath and most likely to catch our death of a cold. Only to run in for one item and then start all over again trapsing outside and braving the weather. The only way I'm suriving is I know that spring is around the corner... I wonder if they have a Facebook countdown for that! Ha! Anyway, what a wonderful blessing to have a few places that we visit have a drive thu. Maybe I don't get as much excercise, maybe it takes a little longer waiting in line with the other 20 cars and maybe I've used more gas during those moments than I would like to think- HOWEVER- I don't have a cold as of today and Belle has learned what "patience" means. ;)
Ps. As I was getting ready the other morning, Belle walked up to the wall in our hallway upstairs and said, "Large turtle mocha please.....THANKS!" and walked away! :)

I'm sorry... you want me to do WHAT?
Well, for those of you who don't know, baby Rohlf #2 is a BOY!! We had our ultrasound yesterday and apparently there is some extra plumbing so we are fairly certain there is a lot of blue in our future! ;)
I have no idea how other clinics do ultrasounds for pregnancies, but my clinic sends you home with some instructions to use the bathroom an hour before your appointment and then chug in a few minutes or less 32 oz of water. Now to all the people reading this and think, "No prob, I drink 32 oz of water in a few minutes all the time" let me tell you- it is not what you think. First of all, if you are chugging 32 oz of water in one sitting it is probably because you are thirsty.... very very thirsty! If someone just randomly asked you to drink 32 oz of water right after breakfast- yeah it wasn't all that fun. Take into account that I'm still throwing up at times due to this lil' one- I found myself gagging during the last 10 oz. AND THEN I'm pregnant- so this lil' guy is already sitting on my bladder. On a normal givin day or night this is how my routine is. Make dinner, use the bathroom, clean up dinner, use the bathroom, drive to church, use the bathroom, ect, ect. You get the idea. There is not a lot of room in there on a normal day. I felt so bloated and sick and then I go in for the ultrasound and it isn't just some light wand grazing across your belly. It is all out 'push of war' as the tech is trying to get measurments of the baby and it isn't quite in the right position. Oh my! At last she said she finally said, "You can go empty your bladder now." Praise the Lord I didn't have any accidents as I was running to the bathroom. I tell you what, after going through pregnancy the first time and now seeing as how things are going this time... I look at the "depends" aisle in Walmart through a whole new set of lenses. :)
Anyway, that may be tmi- but if you are ever in line for the bathroom with a prego lady... for the love! Let her go first! :)

I PROUD OF YOU MOM!
My daughter is in the stage of life that whatever I'm doing... she wants to do. It doesn't matter how little or diffucult the task- she wants to participate. This afternoon was no different.
I went to use the restroom and she said "I come with you". So she followed me into the bathroom and as I was doing my business she grabbed my hands and looked into my eyes and said "I proud of you mom-- you got potty!" I thanked her and she proceeded with , "I get some ulet (toilet) paper and I wipe you!"
Right... well, kiddo, I draw the line there! :)

Ka-Chow!
Wow, it has been a while. Sorry to all my faithful readers- but my blog was not working correctly so I couldn't receive comments and who wants to blog when no one can respond? Ok, maybe that is just my opinion. So, THANK YOU! to whoever fixed this problem.... I'm pumped to be back!
Random happenings in the Rohlf household:
1) Belle is being potty trained ... again! For those of you who remember, we tried this last summer and things din't go so well. I tried again last week and I think it is a go! I am amazed at how small my world has shrunk. We were at the mall on Sunday and out loud I said to Belle "Are you still dry? Do you need to use the potty?" And then I realized I was not at home and not everyone needed or cared to know that Belle was learning what it meant to be dry! And she likes to call family members and tell them that she went potty on the big potty all by herself! This was one of the approaches that I took with trianing her --ENTHUSIASM! I read this book called "The Potty Party" and that was one of the points, that little kids love parties and enthusiasm. So I tried "WOOHOOING" and jumping up and down and clapping the first day that she was trying and she loved it! I started slowing down with that a bit and one days she said , "Mommy, you didn't woohoo!" ;) Right now we are just rewarding her with a M & M- so things are much better now! :)
2) We have our ultrasound for baby #2 on Tuesday of next week and I'm going crazy! One day I want to find out and the next I don't. I think my husband is about to shoot me, mostly because I ask him about every day what he wants to do and if he has changed his mind and why he decided to find out or not to find out. I'm glad that either way, we will be done with this decision after next week. We didn't find out with Belle, but I'm thinking it would be fun to try it this way as well. So many people either "always find out " or "never find out" so I feel odd changing things up mid way through. Thoughts? Ideas?
3) I heard somewhere that if you are going to buy your significant other flowers for Valentines Day, do not... I repeat, DO NOT buy red roses! The florists expect everyone to buy red roses for Valentines Day and they start packaging them up to a week ahead of time and then they die 2 days after you get them. I thought that was a pretty smart piece of advice.
4) Here is a picture of Belle after she just ate her first oreo unsupervised... my I have come a long way! :)

Later.
