If ever you needed a hair dryer...

the day after you get a new hair cut is the day! My sister Elizabeth is at school at "The Solon Professional Acedemy" and she needed a model for her hair cutting skills. I volunteered. It was a three hour hair cut, but it did turn out pretty cute (at least when she styled it... I haven't gotten to yet) and I was excited to try my hand this morning at doing my own hair. I plugged in my hair dryer and I heard it barely start and then sizzle and die. DARN! I was already late running out the door and this happens. With my old hair cut I knew what to do on days when I didn't have time to dry my hair. Pull back in a messy pony tail and wrap a ribbon in my hair. But not so much now. She litterally took out half of my hair with the thinning shears (which was a wonderful thing!) but now my little pony tail is short and stubby and all sorts of layers are falling out all over the place. Oh well, I did the best I could with the 2 minutes I had and left he house. I caught myself in the mirrior a few minutes ago and realized that I deserately need a flat iron. But now that it has had time to air dry... we should be in the clear. Anybody know of a good brand of hair dryers? I only had mine a year....

I always have trouble making my hair look like they did in the salon...I'm just certain that they use some special product that I don't own to make my hair look perfect...and as soon as I leave, it dissolves....and I never have my perfect hairstyle return....alas.....I use the con-air blow dryer and have had it for about 5 yrs.

I have had the worst trouble with hair dryers!! I seem to go through at least one a year. The worst lasted just 6 months. I always know when they are on the fritz because the coils inside will turn orange and it gets hotter than normal when I'm using it. I usually just buy something from Wal-Mart, but I've wondered if a professional style (ie. more expensive!) hair dryer would last longer.

I believe my wife uses a Helen of Troy brand Hair dryer. Don't ask me how I remember that. But she is a cosmotologist so thats got to count for something.

I can't help you with the hair dryer things. But I am deathly afraid of curling irons. Especially when they are left plugged in. Our bathroom is full of them, being that I live with three women (not counting the dog and cat). The whole hair care thing is one reason I am thankful for being bald. Air dry is the best.

Dan L- thanks for the heads up. I am amazed that you retained that knowledge... are you that good remembering other things???

Dan B- i do believe you are on crack.

Dan L's totally right about the helen of troy thing.... leah, this is what you do: don't mess with wal-mart. Go to Sally's & find yourself a midrange hairdryer there.... it will work a lot better than anything you get at walmart. I'd suggest either a babyliss or helen of troy. Mine is a babyliss and I love it!

(another hint, i would suggest this for flat irons as well... you can get a pretty amazing flat iron at sally's for $40 to $60 that will give you salon like results compared to a $15 or $20 walmart iron that just doesn't work as well and may or may not pull your hair)

Whatever hair dryer you get... get one with an extra filter system over the part that sucks in the air... you'll be thankful for that feature later... no more burnt smells!

For the record, I am not on crack, although I may be cracked.
