Happy Birthday Isabelle!
Well, her birthday isn't until the 24th, but we had her party on the 19th before everyone left for the holidays. She was quite excited to eat her cake on her own. She started off all cute and little pieces without much of a mess. By the end she was double fisting it and had cake in her belly button and her diaper! She was pretty excited
I for one, am excited to eat real Thanksgiving dinner this year instead of hospital food!
Hpapy Birthday Puddin'! We love you!

Save your old plastic bowls!
Do you have old cool whip bowls? Or perhaps cottage cheese and sour cream bowls?? You are gonna need them, cause my "2007 Year of the Baby" prediction is coming along quite nicely. So far we are up to 10 babies before July... so I am thinking about "upping" my tally to about 20 babies total... but we will see!
But seriously, if you take a meal to a new family.... enabling them to be able throw away or recycle the dishes is so wonderful! Not that we didn't enjoy the meals or even mind returning things, but life is so much easier when you can just toss them and not have to worry about making sure the right pan gets back to the right owner.
Anway... I'm out.

Currently, if you are located in the Iowa City/Coralville area, I offer free delivery. If you are out of the area, shipping is $7 for the first candle and $1.50 for each additional candle.
Now for the exciting news… I decided to participate in my first craft show later this month. My friend, Rachel, and I have secured a booth at Sycamore Mall for Friday, November 17 through Sunday, November 19. If you are in the area that weekend, please stop by… we would love to see you there!
Last but not least, I will be having my first candle party open house sometime in early December. Watch for an upcoming email with the details!
Thank you again for your support as I embark on this new adventure. I couldn’t be doing so without all of you!
Remember, only 45 day!

Ignorance is bliss...
There are several things that I have scoffed at over the years only to find out that I was really the one who didn't know what I was talking about. Take jet lag for instance. I seriously thought people were nuts. They just "claimed" to have jet lag in order to take more time off work or try to gain people's sympathy from long hours on a plane. I, however, quickly shut my mouth after the summer of 2001 when I went to the Ukraine for a mission's trip. Seriously, I was knocked on my butt for a good 2-3 days trying to recover. Granted I am the type of person who needs 7-9 hours of sleep every night in order to function... but still. I have thought to myself since then, "Leah, why don't you just take people at their word and believe that they are stating truth." Well, I have yet to learn that lesson.
My newest discovery? Diaper changing stations. Oh my gosh, those things totally gross(ed) me out and I always wondered why someone would hang them in a bathroom stall?!? I mean, who in there right mind would take their precious child and lay them on this dirty, plastic, freezing pull out changing station? I would never!!
(Ps. A little backround...When I was about 8 months pregnant, I was at the mall and saw this kid who had explosive diarrhea all over himself. It was so bad, it was DRIPPING out from the top of his pants and it was all over his socks and in his shoes! His mom proceeded to put him down on the changing table and clean him up. Then used some paper towls to mop up the mess. Gross. Needless to say I was almost puking and thought, "Hey, ever thought of a lil' antibacterial Lysol after that mess?!?" Anyway... moving on.)
Well, I have used diaper changing stations many times and find myself breathing a sigh of relief whenever I am in a place and I find they have one for my use. This has also gone as far as myself getting a lil huffy with people who don't think to place one in their bathrooms. I mean, "Hello, have you ever heard of babies??? They need dirty diapers changed and what would you like me to do, lay them on the bathroom floor?" Thankfully, I have kept my mouth shut! :) But for real, what are you to do when you are on a long car trip back from your in laws and it is freezing outside. You pull over because there is a stench that is about to knock you over coming from the back seat. You venture inside to see (fingers crossed!) if they have a changing station only to find out that they don't. You go back to the car and turn the entire tast over to your hubby to fit your child on one of the car seats (that are usually slanted and / or bucket seats so your kid is contorted into all sorts of angles) to change the diaper without letting the baby catch a cold from the freezingness or get poop all over the car. Whew! But we made it... just in case you were wondering. Jason is a pro at diapers now!
All that said, I realize I am still a new mom in so many ways. Anybody got any ideas of what to do in the future when faced with this situation? And just so you know... I am bracing myself for any suggestions that come from you Linden guys....

Make it stop!
I will be honest. I am addicted... to chapstick that is. It is awful. I seriously think I put it on a few times every hour. And last night reminded me again how much this is a part of my life. I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and before I could fall back asleep I had to put on more chapstick. AAAHHHHH... who does this and why? I remeber back in high school when Ben Lennander lived with us he told me he never used lotion and chapstick (to the point of letting his hands bleed) because he didn't want to become dependant on something that someday might not be available. Now, I know you could take that too all extremes, but I think he had a point. If I am driving in the car and can't find any chapstick (ie, my hubby borrowed it and forgot to put it back) I find myself driving to the nearest Walmart or Target so I can "fix" my problem. Oh yeah and I have mentioned that I am a chapstick snob? I don't like very many kinds. Although, if I am desperate, I will use almost anything, including lotion! (Ps. Lotion tastes gross!) My first preference is Carmex and then Blistex or something to that sort. None of this fruity, sparkly, flavor of the month stuff. Nope, I will have none of it.
Anyway, that was what I was thinking about at 3:30am this morning. About how chapstick would make a great blog entry.
I gotta go, my lips hurt real bad.
