Some days... I'm ready to throw in the towel.
This week has been a doozie. Belle has been clingy and crying and had tons and tons of dirty diapers. I feel like we are back when she was a newborn again. Blowing out of her diaper onto clothes... yeah, that is enough of that. I had been doing ok all week (dealing with her fussiness and crying and wanting me to hold her) and then yesterday happened. It was a horrible day. She cried all day long. Last night we were getting ready to put her to bed and realized that because of the huge number of dirty diapers this week, she had awful diaper rash. I remember my mom saying that the best thing for diaper rash is to keep the diaper off for a while. Sounds nice, right? So I decide give her a bath before bed and then let her have no diaper on for about 10-15 minutes while I feed her before bed. I put a huge blanket between her and I just to be sure. However, about 7 minutes in, I feel a lot of warmth on my leg. Bummer. She peed all the way through the blanket and through several layers of my clothes. So, we get a new blanket and continue to feed her. She stops eating, coughs and then proceeds to projectile vomit yogurt/milk all over me, the new blanket and the lazy boy chair we were sitting in. I was seriously covered. Luckly Jason was there and he grabbed her and just put her in the bath again and we started over. (Oh yeah... and to top all this off, she was screaming most of the time!) Whew! I was ready to cry. But thankfully she went to bed and slept through the night.
Today is much better and she is happy to play with her toys by herself for a while. I thought I was going to go nuts if things continued on today as well. I was telling my mom all of this today and she said "Do you have a little more respect for your mother now?" Yes.... yes I do. We joke that my grandma is a little nuts (she had 5 kids in 4 years), but after this week, I decided that she is entitled to it.
Yeah for moms.

-Kandela-
Dear friends and family,
I wanted to let you all know about a new adventure that I have begun. In the last several months, I have decided to start my own business, Kandela. It has been a dream of mine for some time now have a more regular opportunity to express my creative flair while still being able to stay at home with Belle, so when this particular idea came up, Jason and I decided it could be a great way to accomplish both of those goals while generating additional income at the same time. Kandela is a business devoted to making soy candles. These candles are made with all natural soy wax. They have many great benefits over other candles, as they are eco-friendly, American-grown (primarily in the Midwest) and they are carbon neutral. For the time being, I will only be selling one size of candle and two different lines of scents, which vary mainly by intensity. The first fragrance line is regular, for those of you who enjoy candles primarily for enhancing the atmosphere of your home. These will smell quite nice, and add the perfect touch to any room. The second set of fragrances is much stronger and designed primarily for those of you who enjoy walking into a room and knowing exactly what kind of candle is burning. I have divided the scents into the two categories and listed them with their descriptions below.
Candles with a regular intensity:
-Autumn Harvest- a melody of the scents of fall... the aroma of a warm mug of
apple cider blended with the smells of crisp autumn air and falling leaves
-Cinnamon Buns- A cinnamon base with a mix of vanilla and butter.
-Fresh Waterfall-A lush spring-time fresh
-Jasmine Vanilla- A beautiful melody of Jasmine flowers perfectly balanced
with the sweet scent of vanilla bean
-Pumpkin Pie- A sweet freshly baked pumpkin pie type with hints of
buttery cinnamon and clove
Candles with a strong intensity:
-Cinnamon Stick- A full bodied scent of rich spicy cinnamon
-Creme Brule- A vanilla base with a hint of caramelized sugar. (My personal favorite!!)
-Fresh Gingerbread- A blend of vanilla frosting, cinnamon sticks, toasted
graham crackers and juicy raisins
-Gardena-An aroma of tropical Gardenia
-Hot Apple Pie - An aroma of fresh cut granny smith apples, smothered in
butter, cream and cinnamon
Currently, I am offering 18 oz candles in a glass jar with a lid and ribbon tied around the neck (see attached picutres) for $12. Please also note that it is intention to continue expanding Kandela’s offering of sizes and scents as this business grows.
Thanks for your support!

Sugar much?
I find it a little weird that I am taking a cake decorating class when neither Jason or I can eat the cake or the frosting. But this is something that I have wanted to do for years! My creative side is just eaking out!
Here is a picture my first cake decorating from last night.

Oh and Happy Sweet 16th Birthday to my sister Sarah!!! :)

CLEARANCE!
I love it! I am not sure what it is about that word and the big red or yellow signs that usually come with it- but I usually end up wondering over to the product just to check it out. But recently, I have been a bit miffed with the companies who like to flaunt this word. When I think of clearance I think of "We have to get rid of this product, we have too much of it in stock, we could just give it to you, but would rather you stand in line and pay a few cents for our time of putting up this sign." However, at the stores where I have shopped recently that doesn't seem to be the case. Like at Walmart today. They had a huge slew of stuff outside of their store with the big yellow sign with a smiley face on it. I saw some Crest Whitening toothpaste and mouthwash and decided to check it out. When I started looking at the stuff I realized it was still $1.50 for a small thing of toothpaste and mouthwash. Not a great deal at all. In fact, I looked at the tag and it had the regular price before the clearance price and then said "You will have saved $.47" Ug! I was so disappointed. That is a slight price discount,.....not a clearance item. However, they got me to go over and check out all the stuff under the yellow sign, so maybe it was worth their time. All I'm saying... CLEARANCE to me means a steal of a deal. I wish the big guys still thought that as well.
