Correction: We have MICE in our house!

IMG_0839.JPG

I can't believe I am staying in my house right now. Although, I was gone all day while Jason was at work. We came home last night from church to find my oven mittens all chewed up and mouse poop in the drawer. We set a trap in the kitchen and one down the basement (where we found the first dead mouse). Jason came in this morning and told me that we had got a mouse in the kitchen. He also said I should wash the floor in front of the fridge and cabinets with bleach because the mouse had bled all over the floor. Yuck. He came home at lunch (I stayed at my parents house all day) and checked the traps again. The one in the basement had no peanut butter on it, but it had snapped without catching the mouse. He reset it and came home after work and checked it again. This time the peanut butter was still in place, however the trap was sprung again and it had moved about 2 feet. This mouse (who I have affectionately named Lucifer and we will call Lucy if it is a girl) also chewed through a brand new cook book that I had in the basement. We went to Walmart tonight and bought four traps and mouse poisoning for the garage. Three are set in the basement and another one in the kitchen. Hopefully this night will end with all the living critters in my house dead!!!

EAK!

There is a MOUSE in my basement!

Eak! My husband doesn't come home for another 2.5 hrs! I went downstairs to put something on the bookshelf and on the top shelf all curled up next to the insulation is a mouse sleeping... or maybe it is dead. I stiffled a scream and ran upstairs to call Jason...even though I am out of minutes on my phone. I don't know what to do. Except that I really really want to scream. And I want to know how it got in the house!!

In other news (my hands are shaking as I am typing this)- here are a few tid bits of info.
-Belle moved up to size 2 diapers! (This is a whole new world to me... it is 12-18 lbs!)
-We sucessfully made it to Walmart, Aldi and Fareway in one trip with no screaming episodes!
-Belle will stop crying if I start singing "Rubber Ducky, you're the one" while dancing around the room!
-She enjoyed her first Valentines day!
-I leared how to cook a steak inside the house "restaurant style"- you get a pan on the top of the stove hot and sear the steak in olive oil on one side for 5 min. While that is cooking, have a oven safe pan in the oven at *425 degrees. After the steak is done getting seared on the stove, put it in the oven in olive oil for 6 minutes on the other side. Then let the steak sit for 5 minutes before eating. We had a slim steak, so I cut the time down and it wasn't quite done. So I am thinking the 5/6/5 minute recipe will work great next time!
-The maxima is sold!! Praise the Lord! We are now proud owners of a 91 Ford Truck. :)
