American Baby Contest

So... I was inspired by a few people to submit Belle's black and white photo that I posted a few weeks ago to a baby contest and see what will happen. I am not expecting anything...but decided to try it just for kicks. The above email was waiting for me in my inbox today! :)

We shall see....

Such a servant!

Phone conversation today with Dana Cramer:

Leah: Hey Dana, I have a question for you, feel free to say no...
Dana: Ok,
Leah: I saw on the meal schedule for church this week that I am on main dish and it is my anniversary this weekend. Would you be willing to trade me since you are making dessert? (My thoughts being that I can bake cookies ahead of time and not have to be home making thngs right before church...cause my hubby is taking me away Saturday and Sunday!!! Granted, we will have our baby with us as well :))
Dana: How about you don't worry about it and I will just cover your main dish this week and take care of both of them?
Leah: (I can't remember what I said here... I was totally blown away!) Thank you!
Dana: No problem!

Thank you Dana for being a wonderful example of a servant to me today!

100 Grand!

I am learning... you can't outgive God! This is a lesson I have heard my entire life and have made decisions based on this promise. I am still amazed though, how cool it is when God comes through. We just received our statement from the church about how much money we gave last year. As I opened the statement and read through it all, I found myself thinking the following thought: "Wow, we gave away $____... think about how much we could have done with all that money." Then I quickly corrected my attitude and thought: "Praise God, think of all we did WITHOUT that money last year!" Jason and I made a list of all the changes that happened in life that God blessed us with.
-A wedding in January... over $1,000 that we thought we would have to pay for was taken care of at the last minute
-God brought Sarah to cover my lease when I was living with 5 other girls the day before we had to start paying double rent.
-We were able to buy a duplex and paid $9,000 less than what they were originally asking.
-God provided a renter for that duplex the month before our first payment was due.
-We had no major car problems in the last year.
-God worked the timing out for our rental agreement for our apartment and when the closing of our house was... no double payments were made.
-We had a beautiful daughter.

Once again God has proved to me of his faithfulness in $ when we put him first.

Things I am learning/trying to figure out:

1) I thought I had patience... then I had a kid... and now I think otherwise.
2) Whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do(diapers, laundry, ect), do it ALL for the glory of God. -1 Cor
3) What does God's grace look like for the future? I understand that he has taken care of things in the past, but what does it look like to have grace to get up once again at night to rock a screaming child back to sleep?
4) A little smile from a little person can make my heart skip a beat.
5) Isabelle doesn't like pepsi... bummer.
6) We have made it 6 weeks!
7) Good friends are a lifesaver... I am not kidding either.
8) I finally bought groceries today and I took Belle along. It wasn't as bad as I had imagined.
9) Some days I wonder why people have more than 1 kid.
10) "Parenting isn't about training the child, it is about building the character of the parent." - Pat Sokoll *I had to guess on a few words.*
11) God delights in every detail of my day, no matter how boring or routine it may seem to me.
12) Little babies make women (and a few men!) smile and make funny noises.
13) God is more than enough for every thirst and every need.
14) Praise the Lord for relatives close by!
