!!!Cravings!!!!!
I had just been thinking yesterday afternoon that I had been doing so well this area. Only a few times have I thought certain foods would sound good and usually I can get around it. However, last night was different. Bummer. :) I was laying in bed last night and I was hit with this craving at about 10:00pm. It was like a ton of bricks....my mouth was watering!
What Leah wanted:
HICKORY PARK!
Broiled chicken sandwhich with bacon and cheese on an onion bun. Fries and cheeseballs with ranch. A side of pickles and another side of cottage cheese. A large pepsi and topped off with a mocha sunday with extra nuts!
I don't think that is too hard...right? Well, except for the fact that I would have to drive 2 hrs to get it all. And trust me that I wouldn't eat it all in one sitting, but a little bit of all of it was making my mouth water. I WOKE my husband up and told him about it. The conversation went a little bit like this:
Leah: "Honey! I am craving Hickory Park!"
Jason: "Um...what?"
Leah: "I really want Hickory Park, what am I supposed to do about it?"
Jason: "Ignore it."
Leah: "Right...."
Seriously, I spent a good 15 min figuring out exactly what I would order and my stomach was growling. I finally had to give it up so I could finally fall asleep. If I have anything to do with it, the Rohlf's might make it to Ames for some food in the near future! :)

What they don't tell you about being pregnant:
Here is my verse that I am holding onto!
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will foryou in Christ Jesus."
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The past 5 or 6 weeks have been pretty rough. Gone are the days when I thought pregnancy was about wearing cute clothes and looking "motherly". Yes, I know I'm weird! :)
I don't think I can explain morning sickness. I "heard" my mom say that she would throw up 15 times a day for several months with each of us kids. However, I don't think the reality of that kicked in until I started getting sick. And I won't try to explain it to any of you. Just be thankful if you don't ever have to share your morning sickness symptoms with your doctor!
Here are a few things that I never knew about before I was pregnant:
-Sleeping through the night, somehow I took this for granted! I had heard that once the baby is big enough it presses on your bladder and you have to go to the bathroom more often. But at 2 or 3 months pregnant???? I get up between 2-4 times a night to use the bathroom. Bummer.
-Crying, yes, I know I am an "emotional" person. But when I am crying and I tell my husband, "Honey, I haven't cried in a few days!" as I am proud of my accomplishment. He gently responds with "Um.. you cried yesterday." Oh yeah... I forgot.
-Smells, I can't stand to smell food or anything else that has a strong scent. Gone are the days of flavored lotions and body sprays. Everything is "regular" scent at our house now a days.
-Tiredness, how can taking a load of laundry to the washer and walking back be tiring you ask? I have no idea. I am still trying to figure this one out.
-Clothes, ever have those days when you look in your closet and you think you have nothing to wear? Yeah, I used to think that too. Now I really don't have anything to wear! Normal clothes don't fit and maternity clothes look dumb. Too bad it isn't the winter and I could just wear sweat pants all day long!
-Loss of brain cells, I am not kidding about this. So many times I start a sentence and can't finish it because I forgot what I was saying. Or.. the other day I tried to exit through the "enter" door at Target. I couldn't figure out why my friend stopped walking a few steps behind me. She said, "Leah, we have to use the exit door." Oh...right.
Don't get me wrong though, I am finding myself becoming quite attached to this little kiddo. We had an ultrasound on Saturday and it was awesome. The nurse stayed with us for a good 15 minutes. She was able to wake the baby up and it was squirming around and wiggling its arms and legs. Pretty cute. We got to see the heart beat and at one angle even saw the features of the face. Technology is pretty cool.
We just hit the 3-month mark this week. Here is an update from babycenter.com about the little one.
"How your baby's growing: Your baby's hit the 2-inch mark (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce. Her face is beginning to look more human. Her eyes, which started out on the sides of her head, have moved closer together on her face, and her ears are near their final positions on the sides of her head. Your baby's intestines, which have grown so rapidly that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into her abdominal cavity about now. Her kidneys are secreting urine into her bladder. Her nerve cells have been multiplying rapidly, and synapses (neurological pathways in the brain) are forming. Your baby may have acquired more reflexes by now, including sucking, and she'll even squirm if you prod your abdomen, though you still won't be able to feel her movement for several weeks."
Wow.
