Thoughts-
The verses below and the quote from Elizabeth Elliot about sums up what is on my heart. I'm going for "Less is more" today! :)
"Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares what happens to you." - 1 Peter 5:7
"Don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done." - Philippians 4:6
"So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life..." -Matthew 6:25A
'The journal does not say what was troubling me the day I copied the above verses. It is manifest that the anxiety that shadowed too many of my days was that I should miss the path of righteousness. Better that anxiety, perhaps, than a cavalier carelessness, but the years since have proved me over and over again that the heart set to do the father's will need never fear defeat. His promises of guidance may be fully counted upon. Does it make sense to believe that the shepard would care less about getting his sheep where he wants them to go than they care about getting there?' - Elizabeth Elliot

Those are verses that have meant a lot to me too, Leah.
The juxtaposition of I Peter 5:7 is interesting -- our cares for his cares. What are our cares vs. his cares? He cares about us, his beloved. What do we care about? Him? No, we care about all sorts of other junk and therefore we have anxiety and find it difficult to let go of those cares. How that must wound his heart. If we cared more for him, how much more content we would be. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4)
And I don't like that Phil. 4:6 translation because it makes it sound like we are to be thankful for just the "good stuff." When, in fact, the verse says we are to be thankful for the very thing that is causing us anxiety, recognizing that the Lord gives and takes away and that in all things he is working for our good. That's how we experience peace that surpasses comprehension.

Leah, what is the title of this Elizabeth Elliot book? I think I need to read it. God is taking me someplaces right now, where I need to be a sheep and not question the process, but just follow. It's an awesome ride, a bit awkward, but awesome!
