power tools rock
time goes by fast. elsa is huge, ok not really but she has gained 10 pounds since we got her. and you sure notice it when she does her sled dog routine, as i fondly call it (pulling me down the whole street) she is graduating from puppy school tonight. we are so proud. and begins her new intermediate class next week (our lab friend louie's mom is calling it grad school!)
we are loving the warm weather (we wont mention that snow that fell last week) it is fun to be able to explore the city and our neighborhood. lots of sweet cafes and little shops. we went to this "estate" sale last weekend, basically this local artist opened up her studio apartment to sell all her artwork and stuff. pretty sweet. we took elsa out for dinner to this place that lets you have puppys on the patio and even gave her treats at the hosttess stand. we also have been able to frequent to dog parks (funniest dang thing you have ever seen, great danes playing with pugs) and took her on her first trip to the beach. my sis and the kids have been enjoying it to, we have gone to shedd, the kohls childrens museum, and lots of parks.
i realize that just like when we were at SALT, daily life takes over and you forget where you are. i was walking out of aldi the other day i reminded myself "hey fool, you are in downtown chicago!" so i looked up at the skyline. it is so incredible yet i walk by it and forget to look!
in other news. i got my very own new drill the other day. at first i was totally like "yeah whatever this is just a way for andy to have another toy (and stupid since he already has a drill)" but oh no folks. it is awesome! i helped andy hang up our new bathroom fixtures and i made him let me do the drilling part since it is my drill supposedly. it is was so sweet! now i keep walking around my house trying to find things to drill. watch out world!
ok maybe ive been watching to much HGTV and TLC!

Ahhh ... fond memories!! I remember my first drill. It was a cordless DeWalt purchased at Lowes a few years ago. Could not wait to get home and drill something!! But I must warn you Emily, don't get too attached. Power tools are very finicky animals. Mine "walked" away with my first 100' drop cord and never came back.
I am currently on my second cordless drill (a Black and Decker) and have learned the hard way to place it properly at arms length so I do not go thru the heartache of losing another one. It still pains me to think of my first loved drill .....
The other thing I must warn you about is that there is a hidden addiction here. I will confess here and now that I have purchased yet another power tool, which shall remain unnamed. Thoughts of the next possible purchase have begun filling my thoughts. I don't have a problem - I can still control it - so a power tool additiction support group is out of the question. (Outside intervention may be required.) Consider yourself warned!!!

Okay. Our lives are officially mirroring. I am in love with HGTV and Jill graduated puppy class not that long ago. Sweetness. In other news, we need to figure out a weekend when we can both travel to Ames to stay this summer. That way we can have a Peterson Pits reunion. I'm kind of thinking maybe the weekend after Memorial day weekend? Early Juneish?? Whatd'ya think?
Miss you chica!
