New Phrases For Our Perusal
We have been on a quest to discover phrase origins. Another phrase of note is "deader than a door nail". Any guesses?
Concerning an earlier post...
Recent data indicates that the Romans used lead pipes in their plumbing, thus poisoning many of their higher class citizens. When Caesar heard this he decreed: "Get the lead out"
Other Phrases:
"Uglier than a mudrail fence"
"Cooler than a cucumber"

Phrase Origins
The Biang family (minus Mike), was traveling around Southwest Wisconsin. We were on a lead mine tour. We were seeing the typical sites of Wisconsin: pretty farms, cheese factories and Supper Clubs. During the drive I thought of the phrase "get the lead out". I starting wondering about the origins of this phrase. Could this phrase be contributed to an early mining boss directing lazy miners. Could this phrase be atributed to paint mixing companies trying to make safe paint? Could this phrase be atrributed to young boys making a pencil into a straw?
Is there any historical information out here about this?

Andy Finds A Surprise In Our Bathroom
A certain man named Andy while visiting our domicile found a surprise. The excited visitor said there is a special guest in your bathroom. We have decided to name the guest Ruppy not because of its Amber color but because of our other houseguest. Ruppy is kind of slow and slimy but seemingly good natured. A perfect, quiet friend.
Well done Andy.

SALT II
I am musing about SALT II for next summer. It is exciting to think about what God will do between now and then. (Watch for a dedicated site on SALT II and the Chicago Church Plant.) Any ideas or counsel would be appreciated.
