how to save a life...
...haha, okay, so today, i had some time to browse cnn.com at work today (i've been doing that a lot lately). there weren't a whole lot of interesting headlines, but this one caught my eye:
Salmonella outbreak linked to 2 peanut butter brands
maybe it's because i have a mega obsession with peanut butter. who knows? :)
so, jokingly, i holler across the office to my boss "you don't use great value peanut butter do you?"
she replies (with that tone of voice that you know means the person thought it was a weird question): "no, why?"
"well, what kind do you use?"
"peter pan. why?"
uh oh. that was the second brand that was affected.
"um, what are the first four digits on the top of your peanut butter jar?" (she keeps PB in the office)
"2111. why?"
you've gotta be kidding me.
my boss had two jars of the bad batch of PB! so, no one has died from PB salmonella, but some people have gotten sick. and well, for people who feed PB to their pets (like my boss), that could do a real number on such a little system!
anyway, for all of you who waste time looking at news headlines when you should be doing something else, keep looking. it may save a life :)
oh, and check your PB lids.
