The end of an era...
So, this weekend was hard. I went home on Saturday night after school to help move my Grandma from her house to an apartment. It was tough to say the least.
I mean, there was the reality that Grandma's house was going to be so different, no more fires on Christmas day while opening presents, or trying not to hit yourself on the chandelier in the dining room, or lots of little things that are Grandma's house and have been all of my life. I remember when we were little, Grandma would call up the owners of the camp grounds behind her house and they would let us swim in the pool for free.
But, it was harder seeing my Grandma so sad about thirty years of memories and knowing that she wouldn't be in that soon the house will probably be sold, and she'll have to also say good-bye to all those memories. At times she was quite overwhelmed, but it was okay.
Near the end of the day, though, Grandma's little apartment was beginning to look a lot like Grandma's hosue, and I know that so much of it being her home is her, and not the building. And... well... we must note that the location IS much better: it is kiddy-corner from the BINGO parlor, as all quality retirement apartments should be.

yeah--now she and all her neighbors can carpool over to bingo. and on nights when the cancel it to keep all the little old people from going out in the freezing cold, they can have card parties together :)

You know what?! I absolutely LOVE bingo! I wish they had BINGO parlors kiddy-corner from dorms in college towns...
