Snow day!
So, the one good thing about going to PCI today is: It's a SNOW DAY!
The last couple days at school have been long.... I've done more manequin work than I'd ever care to, and I am waiting for my first client quite badly. Maybe I'll get lucky and get one if we have school tomorrow. Maybe not. Thanks though to all those out there who keep calling and requesting me for haircuts. I can't cut hair yet. I think that I will be able to starting after january 25 when we have our femail model haircut... until then, it's manequin work for me!
In other news, I was reading the Bible yesterday. I've been reading the Gospel of Mark lately, and have just finished it. Yesterday I was reading the story about the death of jesus, and it talks about who was present at his death...
"Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there." -Mark 15:40,41
I was struck, so much so that I looked up the parallel passage in the other gospels as well, and they two, with the exception of John made reference to the women who were present at Jesus' death. It hit me that the men who had been with Jesus were so afraid that they scattered, and Peter though he was present at Jesus' trial, denied any connection with him. But, these women were there, as they had been throughout his travels in Galilee.
Sometimes I get frustrated because there are few stories of what the women did in New Testament times. But, there are these little blurps here and there that are full of so much meaning to me. The women in these times were faithfully devoted to Jesus, taking care of his needs, and being near him, even to the extent of the Cross. They may not have taught publically or been given much acclaim, but they remained faithful. That's a challenge to me. Will I remain faithfully following Jesus, even to the point of death and danger?
I mean, who are we kidding: it could have been no less safe for these women to be present with Jesus, especially if people knew them to be his followers as it would have been for the men to be there. These women easily could have lost their lives. Will I count the cost, and consider it worth it to be near my Savior, no matter where he takes me?

Hi Angelina,
I just finished an Old Testament Survey class and we spent a lot of time talking about the women, including the "Bad Girls of the Bible" listed in Jesus' geneology. You're right. There are these great little blurps about these women that teach us so much about ourselves and especially about the Lord.
One example that struck me was how Jacob loved Rachel more at first, but God looked on Leah's loneliness, and blessed her. In the end, Jacob was buried with Leah and the messiah came through her. Leah named her firstborn Reuben after God, because "He sees my misery." Also, God saw the ill-treatment of Hagar and cared for her. She named God Lahai Roi, the "God who sees me."
And here's an interesting article on "The Nine Men in the Lif of Bathsheba" that you might enjoy -- http://www.heraldmag.org/literature/bio_1.htm
Did you know that Solomon learned the lessons of Proverbs 31 from his mother, Bathsheba? Isn't that just like God to take perhaps the most notorious woman in the Bible and make her the author of the great chapter on being a godly woman? A real story of redemption and God's power.
P.S. -- Did you meet my wife and son on Sunday? She enjoyed talking to you.
